Upon closer examination, however, both ends of his career focus on human individuals struggling to reconcile daily life with its cultural myths—be they Communist propaganda, Biblical proverbs, or French revolutionary slogans. A powerful storyteller, Kieslowski undermined the ordered world of his documentary descriptions and high-concept anthologies with the complex, often disillusioning lives of his central protagonists—a dialectical portrait of life oscillating between pessimistic deconstruction and an affection for human resilience. Those who think that cinema can no longer cope with ideas should sample Kieslowski's work, which tackles time and fate, justice and morality, the soul and God. He hasn't the answers, but he won't stop asking the questions.
He learns he is awarded the European Media Prize, but he will never collect it. He is admitted to the hospital in Szczytno, and later transported to Warsaw. After his post-infarction recovery, Kieslowski resumes his teaching position at the Lodz film school.
Filip buys an 8mm movie camera when his first child is born. Because it's the first camera in town, he's named official photographer by the local Party boss. His horizons widen when he is sent to regional film festivals with his first works but his focus on movie making also leads to domestic strife and philosophical dilemmas. Wielislawa Piotrowska.
