Did you know there is a Spartanburg-focused adolescent health conference happening at the end of the summer? In addition to a day of interactive learning, one of the key aims is to increase connections between youth-serving providers in order to strengthen the safety net for teens in Spartanburg county. The Conference attendees include middle and high school comprehensive health education teachers, administrators, and guidance counselors, as well as representatives from community-based organizations and health care providers.
Building on the inspiring Dublin conference held inIAYMH will bring people from across the globe who are passionate about working together to support and improve the mental health and wellbeing of all young people. The conference will connect young people, their families, practitioners, researchers, policymakers, and many more who are passionate about driving a unified effort to create global and lasting change across the youth mental health sector. There has been incredible momentum and progress during the past 10 years, but so much more to be done.
This module will cover adolescent medical, social and mental health problems, the approach to the adolescent patient and provision of medical services for adolescents including transitional care. A particular focus will be on the sexual and mental health of adolescents. Specific topics will include- ethical dilemmas and adolescent sexual health, common adolescent gynaecological problems for paediatricians, eating disorders in adolescents, detection of adolescent mental health problems for paediatricians and GPs and other health professionalshow to set up an adolescent service, the adolescent with disability and causes and consequences of adolescent vulnerability.
