They are to be put to death; their blood will be on their own heads. Rejoice in that day and leap for joybecause great is your reward in heaven. For that is how their ancestors treated the prophets.
Human sexuality is complex. It affects us physically, mentally and emotionally. After the fall, God gave us spiritual laws to ensure that sexuality could remain the blessing He intended it to be.
If there is a man who lies with a male as those who lie with a woman, both of them have committed a detestable act. What does the Bible say about homosexuality? The book of Leviticus also prohibits what you can eat and prescribes animal sacrifices.
Until recent decades, same-sex behavior was placed in the same category with gluttony or drunkenness — as a vice of excess anyone might be prone to — not as the expression of a sexual orientation. Celibacy is a gift, not a mandate. The Bible honors celibacy as a good way of living — Jesus was celibate, after all — but it also makes clear that celibacy must be a voluntary choice. Condemning same-sex relationships is harmful to the LGBT community.
The gift is only to be enjoyed within a marriage between a man and a woman. There are no exceptions suggested, such as homosexual partnerships. From Genesis on, the Bible praises the marriage of a man and a woman, but it speaks only negatively of homosexual behavior whenever it is mentioned.
The long history between the church and LGBTQ people is one fraught with tension, pain, and, sometimes, violence. Those who believe that homosexuality is a sin often point to several well-known Scripture passages from the Old and New Testaments. Most of the Christian debate about human sexuality has centered on interpretation and emphasis of these passages.
Let us remember the most important verse for gay people in the Bible. John "For God so loved the world that he gave his only Child, so that everyone who believes in him may not perish but have eternal life". And in this same Bible, a book produced, in all its phases, in patriarchal cultures in which marriage and property exchange were completely intertwined, God gave us also the most pro-gay book of the Bible - the Song of Songs. Read it one day: it is about two lovers making love; the lovers are male and female, but they are not described as married, property and progeny and not an issue either.
And some Christians, including some national church leaders, have wavered on the issue, even recently. But sadly, when people refuse to acknowledge the sinfulness of homosexuality—calling evil good and good evil Isaiah —they do so at the expense of many souls. How should you respond to the success of the gay agenda?
